DUBSTEP vs DANCEHALL

Yes I new blog new times new dubs new spring. Knockout enters the spring dubplate style with a smash collaboration with Dub City on june 5th. Dancehall vs Dubstep is a full 4 room event in Studio K in the East side of town, one of the most gorgeous yet less travelled clubs/venues in town. The massive theatre room will be dubbed out by davedave and the dubcity crew, all the local hotties will represent as well as dj Inn from the UK.
For Knockout this means a return to the roots, the early days of our nameless millenium, when the KO trademark used to be two room parties, either with hiphop or drum&bass in the other room. Since dubstep incorporates those styles we greet the Dub era with love and ganja.
The dancehall reggae room will be hosted by knockout with a different selection of selectors, royalee and spitfire represent as our residents. From the mighty Jamrock crew we got Jah, who completely revised his opinion on dubstep after witnessing Benga at the 5 years Oi party in Paradiso. Still the best contender for party of the year thus far.
Other selectors include some of the new breed like Dahlila, the bigger empress from the Somali crew (the Pirate Collective) as well as Djengis who's got his crew together going by the name of Polder ras sound. In the cinema we will be playing classic reggae movies as well as sort of premier of the acclaimed docu Dub Echoes, just released by Soul Jazz and digging deep into the roots and influence of dub music.
